Joy in the small things-An Earth Day Contest

One of my very favorite things about our house is the tree in the front yard. It is a cherry blossom tree, a melodramatic one at that.
It doesn't even show its first buds until other trees are in full bloom, no it creates an atmosphere of delightful anticipation like a Christmas in April waiting for it to bloom. For the past two weeks I have run outside every morning to check its progress and see if it had bloomed yet, well Saturday it did. I smiled so bright and so wide the neighbors must have thought I was batty, but it is just gorgeous!!!

About the contest:
1.)I would like you to take a picture of something in nature that brings you joy. The picture should be taken outside showing some aspect of the season.
2.)Post the picture on your blog linking back to this contest
3.)Comment on this post with a link to your blog

I will choose the winner on April 22nd at 8pm EST from the applicants.
The winner will receive a reusable bag, a Burts Bee's gift set, and various other eco-friendly fills!

Ooh, great contest! I finally got around to getting outside to photo the Daffodils, and posted about it here: http://touchofavalon.blogspot.com/2008/04/spring-has-sprung.html.

Sadly my beautiful dogwood did not bloom this year. The tree is alive, but didn't reach full bloom.

Anyhoo, I wanted to comment on your excellent Frugal Friday feature. I have always enjoyed frugality as sort of a hobby, but my husband is less inclined to "struggle" in good times. I tell him the good times could come crashing down, and I like to be prepared. We have reached something of a compromise over the years. My current goal is saving $100,000 by the time my daughter is in first grade. That's $700/month plus $10K at bonus time. So far we are on track (two years in). Food costs are killing us, though. I paid $8 for organic butter! Looking forward to sharing ideas...
