Family Farm Fun Day!

So I grew up in the woods, my parents had a good amount of land that was surrounded by trees. I've mowed our field with a tractor, we've had guinea hens, chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, bunnies, quail, etc. We milked our goats, collected our eggs straight from the chickens, ate alot of our "Pets". Its pretty much safe to say I grew up a hick and I liked it. I really do feel bad for the kids that didn't have those experiences because it really did give me an interesting upbringing. So a few years ago when we saw that a farm around us was having a Family Farm Fun Day we were all about it; my dad , my brother and I all went over to check out the antique tractors, the hit and miss motors and the Jersey Jerry Apple guy. Needless to say that experience left us wanting more, my brother called me on Saturday morning to let me know that Family Farm Fun Day (FFFD) was that day! The hubs and I were all over it and met up with my parents and my brother and his wife for a day of Farm Fun.
And let me tell you, there was a great amount of Family Fun to be had!

As close as it gets to heaven on earth for my dad

My brother showing the proper hand warming technique so as not to startle the cow while milking

"Jersey Jerry" explaining the evolution of the apple peeler/corer/slicer, it was pretty interesting to see the prototypes to my Pampered Chef model.

"PigMan" trying to sell my brother a pig.. mmmm bacon

Steam Engine Tractors

I bought yarn from this Alpaca, I call her Gertie

Shout out to my Sister

Parade of people using tractors as wheelchairs

Not only was this guy using his as a wheelchair but he was also tilling the driveway.

It was a good day of being with the family and learning some things. I love going to those types of things with my dad because he really likes all things farm related and he's very knowledgeable about almost everything. Its like going with your own personal tour guide.

What a fabulous place! My husband is in the military (forgive me if I already told you that) and so we move around from time to time. Our next move will likely be in three to five years and it will be to Ft. Campbell. We hope to retire there and start just such a place. My husband is on his way home from work now but I already told him about your post and he can't wait to see the pictures.

Thank you for yet another wonderful post! I love this blog!

I posted about homemade soap today -- not as entertaining as the fox adventures but it's about me instead of Josh. :)

Blessings!

Awesome post and pics. There is something to be said for growing up in the country to be sure and just taking time to appreciate the simpler things in life. This brought a smile to my face!
